Interests and Expertise

Urban Forest resilience; urban forest governance

Short description of Project

Currently, my research project explores determinants of mortality in juvenile street trees in Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). This project draws on size and condition data collected on street trees planted in 2013-2016 and subsequently remeasured five years after their planting date. The research intends to determine which factors are driving adverse conditions and high mortality of juvenile street trees in hopes of informing urban forest practitioners, in Halifax and beyond, how to bias survival in future street tree planting programs.

Short description of internship with partner
