Short description of Project

The objective of Laurence’s research project is to participate actively in the ILOV project which aims to create green spaces from a public health perspective. Her project aims to increase plant and soil biodiversity, reduce heat waves and improve public health in partnership with LIEU and the Ville of Quebec. Her project will also allow the city to collect a significant amount of data: length (m) of street sections created, surface area (m2) of demineralized space and number of trees and plants planted. Specifically, her research project will allow demineralization and greenspace on nearly 100 linear m of streets. The costs associated with the entire process will be documented, including both the expenses and the gains associated with the monetary value of ecosystem services. This assessment will allow us to justify the deployment of demineralization projects and increase biodiversity to the usual redevelopment approaches.
